Welcome to Three Rivers Park District 

We are so excited to be hosting the 2024 Special Park Districts Forum! 

Three Rivers Park District is one of the leading parks and recreation agencies in Minnesota. Our mission is to promote environmental stewardship through recreation and education in a natural resources-based park system. We are committed to providing access and removing barriers so that everyone can connect with nature every day. Based in suburban Hennepin County, the Park District manages and protects the natural resources of more than 27,000 acres of parkland and over 175 miles of Regional Trails.  

We believe parks are essential to vibrant, healthy, and livable communities. The environmental benefits of protecting natural habitats, improving air and water quality, and managing resilient ecosystems are immense. Our parks, trails, nature, and program centers provide opportunities for people to live more active lives. We provide opportunities for people to walk and bike for fun and transportation, explore and connect with nature, try a new activity like archery or bird banding, and many other enriching, nature-based experiences.  

Over the course of the forum, you will experience how our communities are changing and how we are changing with them to ensure we are welcoming and convenient to all people. You will learn how we, as park and recreation professionals, have the potential to positively impact community health and wellness, wildlife habitat, air and water quality, and overall interest in nature throughout the region.  

You will see how we are caretakers to some of the region's most precious natural resources, parks, trails, and nature-based offerings, and you will experience how we are intentional and innovative in meeting the needs of today, while anticipating and protecting the needs of tomorrow.
